Práca má teoreticko-empirický charakter. Má tri kapitoly. Prvá kapitola sa zaoberá sociálno-právnou ochranou dieťaťa a sociálnou kuratelou, príčinami vyňatia dieťaťa z dysfunkčnej rodiny, formami náhradnej starostlivosti. Druhá kapitola je venovaná príchodu dieťaťa do detského domova a adaptačnému procesu. Charakteristike jednotlivých metód sociálnej práce používaných sociálnym pracovníkom. Empirická časť práce je zameraná na zistenie, ktoré metódy práce sociálneho pracovníka sú najoptimálnejšie v adaptačnej fáze života dieťaťa v ústavnej starostlivosti z pohľadu sociálnych pracovníkov a či tieto metódy ako optimálne a pomáhajúce vnímajú aj samotné deti.The work has theoretical-empirical character. It has three chapters. Chapter I deals with the social-legal protection of a child and the social quardianship and also with the reasons of taking the child away from a dysfunctional family and the forms of substitutionary care. Chapter II is focused on the arrival of the child at the children´s home and on the process of adaptation. This work is also aimed at the characteristics of particular methods of social work used by a caseworker. The empirical part of the work is focused on the search for the most appropriate methods of work of the caseworker in the phase of adaption in the life of the child who is in the institutional care from the point of view of the caseworker and whether these methods are as well perceived as appropriate and helpful by the children themselves.
