V této práci jsem se snažila objasnit situaci židů žijících v Portugalsku v průběhu XIX. a XX. století. Zajímal mě proces jejich zrovnoprávnění s ostatními obyvateli Portugalska a poté jejich vývoj a asimilace. Rovněž jsem se zabývala otázkou druhé světové války, která zasáhla obrovskou měrou do života tisíců židů. Ti se snažili před nacistickou diktaturou emigrovat do zemí Afriky, Jižní a Severní Ameriky. V této době sehrál Lisabon velmi důležitou roli, neboť jako poslední svobodný přístav umožnil židům dostat se do bezpečí. V další části práce jsem se snažila nastínit následující vývoj židovské komunity v Lisabonu až do dnešních dnů.The goal of this thesis is to analyse the situation of Jews living in Portugal in the course of the 19th and 20th centuries. I concentrated on the process of their emancipation with other inhabitants and the following assimilation. I also dealt with the issue of the Second World War which had an enormous impact on the lives of the Jews. They endeavoured to emigrate from Nazism to the countries of Africa, South and North America. Lisbon played an important role at that time, as being a last free port which enabled the Jews to escape to safety. In the next part of the thesis I tried to describe the development of the Jewish community in Lisbon from the very beginning up to the present time.
