Zachovávat důstojnost pacienta, jako základní lidskou hodnotu, řadíme k primárním etickým povinnostem sester. K nejvíce ohroženým skupinám pacientů ve ztrátě důstojnosti patří senioři. Cílem disertační práce bylo prostřednictvím identifikace a analýzy témat popsat zkušenost všeobecných sester a institucionalizovaných seniorů s důstojností v ošetřovatelské péči a obě perspektivy porovnat. Byl využit deskriptivní kvalitativní design studie s použitím individuálních hloubkových rozhovorů a tematické analýzy. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 10 všeobecných sester a 8 pacientů seniorů ze zdravotnických a sociálně zdravotnických institucí Olomouckého regionu. Sestry interpretovaly důstojnost u seniorů v kontextu ošetřovatelské péče v tématech: Vidět pacienta jako jedinečnou lidskou bytost; Intimita a stud; Kvalita vztahů; Komunikace; Kvalita péče; Prostředí. Senioři popsali důstojnost v ošetřovatelské péči v tématech: Být člověkem; Komunikace; Kvalita péče; Slušnost a Zůstat sám sebou. Komparace výsledků ukazuje shodu v tématech: Vidět pacienta jako jedinečnou lidskou bytost/ Být člověkem; Komunikace a Kvalita péče. Jako odlišná témata byla identifikována Intimita a stud; Kvalita vztahů; Prostředí u sester a témata Slušnost a Zůstat sám sebou u seniorů. Výsledky studie poukazují na to, že sestry i senioři vnímají důstojnost v ošetřovatelské péči v multidimenzionální struktuře. Na základě analýzy identifikovaných témat důstojnost seniorů ovlivňuje především zachování autonomie, intimity a přirozených vztahů seniorů, dále povaha komunikace s personálem a kvalita péče a prostředí instituce. Z rozdílných témat vyplývá, že by sestry měly více reflektovat potřebu zachování identity a integrity seniorů v institucionalizovaném prostředí a v rámci komunikace dávat větší důraz na slušnost v interakci s nimi. Výsledky práce mohou být použity při reflexi praxe v institucích a v pedagogickém procesu pro konkretizaci specifik důstojnosti v péči o seniory. Ve výzkumu se ukazuje potřeba realizace kvalitativního systematického přehledu a většího zaměření na téma důstojnosti seniorů v našem sociokulturním kontextu a to vzhledem ke stárnoucí populaci.A respect of patient's dignity as a basic human value is considered a primary ethical duty for nurses. Older people belong to the most affected group for a loosing of dignity. The aim of the dissertation was to describe an experience of general nurses and older people with the dignity in the nursing care by thematic analysis and to compare both perspectives. A descriptive qualitative design with individual in-depth interviews was used for the study. Study sample consisted of 10 general nurses and 8 older patients from healthcare and social institutions of the Olomouc region. Nurses interpreted the dignity of older patients in the context of nursing care in the themes: Seeing a patient as unique human being; Intimacy and timidity; Quality of relationships; Communication; Quality of care; Environment. Older people described the dignity in the nursing care as following: Being human; Communication; Quality of care; Politeness and Being oneself. Comparison of results shows an agreement in the themes: Seeing a patient as unique human being / Being a human; Communication and Quality of care. Intimacy and timidity; Quality of relationships; Environment were identified as the different themes in nurse's perspective and the themes Politeness and Being oneself in perspective of older people. The results of study showed that both nurses and older people see the dignity in nursing care as a multidimensional phenomenon. Based on the results of analysis of themes, the dignity affects mainly the keeping of autonomy, intimacy and natural relationships of older people followed with a character of communication with personal and quality of care and conditions of the institution. Based on themes comparison, nurses should reflect more a need of the identity and integrity of older people in the institutions and emphasize more the politeness in the interaction with them. The results can be used in the reflection of practice in institutions and in the educational process for the assessment of dignity aspects in the care for older patients. The ongoing research indicates the need of a qualitative systematic review with and research greater focused on the theme of dignity in older people in our socio-economic context due to our population that grows older.
