Bakalářská práce je žánrovou analýzou filmu Ghost Dog: Cesta samuraje (1999) scénáristy a režiséra Jima Jarmusche. Metodologickým východiskem byly texty Ricka Altmana "A semantic/syntactic approach to film genre" a "Why are genres sometimes mixed?" Cílem práce bylo na základě stanovených definic čtyř dominantních žánrů určit, zdali se ve filmu objevují jejich konvence, aluze, jakým způsobem se projevují a vytváří tak žánrový hybrid. Analýza odkryla žánrovou syntézu primárně skrze postavy, rekvizity a narativ, které pracují s konvencemi žánrů westernu, film noir, gangsterského a mafiánského filmu. Analýzou tak byla potvrzena domněnka syntézy a popsán postmoderní přístup Jima Jarmusche, který žánrové konvence ozvláštňuje a vzájemně mezi sebou prolíná.This bachelor thesis presents a genre analysis of the movie Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) from the screenwriter and director, James Jarmusch. Rick Altman's works, "A semantic syntactic approach to film genre" and "Why are genres mixed?" served as methodological foundation for this analysis. The aim of this work was to determine on the basis of definitions of four dominant genres if in the movie project conventions and allusions of those genres, and in which way they occur and produce thus a hybrid genre. The analysis has uncovered a genre synthesis primarily by the means of characters, props and narration, which work with genre conventions of western, film noir, gangster and mafia movies. The analysis has proved an early assumption of the genre synthesis and described James Jamursch's postmodern approach, which enriches genre conventions and intermingles them.
