Diplomová práce reflektuje krajinu mezi mýtem a vědou ve starověkém Římě v období 2.pol.1.stol.př.n.l./1.stol.n.l. Hlavním východiskem diplomové práce je komparace religiózní mystické krajiny s krajinou mechanickou, řízenou přírodními zákony (natura machinata). Symbolicko-posvátná krajina představovala kosmologický mystický transcendentní prostor, jenž bylo třeba náležitě uctívat; na druhou stranu řecko-římská věda postupně poodhalovala tajemství přírody a dosáhla takového stupně výzkumu, že dokázala krajinu desakralizovat a postavit tak své vědecké disciplíny na práh vědy moderní.The thesis is an environmental study, which reflect landscape between myth and science. The author of the thesis describes three basic type of sacred landscape rural countryside, pastoral countryside and religion-symbolic landscape. Specifically the proces of the cultivation of land and agriculture in rural landscape, harmonic life with nature in postoral poems and mythological word in the landscape. This perception of mythological landscape is compared to the scientific knowledge of the Roman Empire. Research of the thesis stand on the analysis of the sources from roman period (the second half of the 1st century BC / 1st century AD) historical works, pholosophical works, poems, technical works and other specialized works.
