Seznam obsahuje rozhovory, povídky, úryvky románů, články, úryvky z knih non-fiction, dopisy a komiks.The aim of my diploma thesis was to produce a list of translations of Anglo-American works in Czech cultural and political magazines between the years 1998 and 2009, arranged alphabetically according to authors. The magazines I was working with include political, social and economic commentaries as well as poems, short stories, excerpts from novels, interviews, as well as letters and comic stripes. To be included, they had to be written by an English speaking person, or must have included a quotation from such a person longer than three sentences. I also listed articles from foreign newspapers and magazines, e.g. the Economist or the Los Angeles Times, in which the author was not given, or was anonymous even in the English original. Articles of this kind formed a list of their own. Every genre was assigned a numeral code, following the standards from The Bibliography of American Literature in Czech Translation, in one of the next volumes of which my work will be included: ? O8 ? short stories, novelettes, excerpts from novels ? 09 ? poetry, song lyrics ? 11 ? short non-fiction (articles, essays, columns) and excerpts from non-fiction books ? 12 ? interviews and excerpts from them ? 14 ? non-fiction written by the author directly for the Czech magazine ? 16 ? letters ? 17 ? comic strips My thesis is divided into an introduction, a description of the work and magazines I was working with, the bibliographic lists themselves, divided by the nationality of the authors into Great Britain and Scotland, Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, and Australia and New Zealand. The final part of my work is ? naturally ? a conclusion. The important part of my work was the attempt at finding the original titles of the contributions, which was sometimes very easy, especially when the original article was taken from a foreign newspaper or magazine, which has an on-line archive, but sometimes quite impossible. In fact I did not find some originals, but I hope to be able to track them in the future.
