Práce se věnuje popisu využití prvku empowermentu v sociální práci s rodinami v organizaci Audubon Area Community Services, Inc., v rámci služby Family Preservation Program. Teoretická část popisuji empowerment z pohledu paradigmat, a také z pohledu několika přístupů, které pod jednotlivá paradigmata spadají. Dále popisuje sociální práci s rodinou a popis americké rodiny z bio-psycho-socio-spirituálního hlediska. V práci jsem použila případovou studii jako metodu kvalitativního výzkumu, ve které stručně popisuji program a kazuistiku konkrétní rodiny, na které ukazuji využití prvku empowermentu. Cílem mé práce je tedy představit využití empowermentu při práci s rodinami, a upozornit tak na možnosti jeho širšího využití v rámci sociální práce.This thesis is focused on describing the use of empowerment in social work with families in organization Audubon Area Community Services, Inc., in frame of Family Preservation Program, USA. Theoretical part is describing empowerment from the paradigms point of view and also from the perspectives of particular approaches which falls into these paradigms. Further, I am focused on social work with families and the description of american family from the bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective. I chose to work with the case study in my thesis as a method of qualitative survey, in which i briefly describe the Family Preservation Program and its values together with particular family case interpretation. It serves as an example to show the way the workers are using empowerment as a value and as an tool in social work with families. The aim of my theses is therefore to introduce the use of empowerment in social work with families and point out that there are more options for working with this term in broader dimension.
