Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na překladovou analýzu prvotiny The Kite Runner afgánsko-amerického spisovatele Khaleda Hosseiniho. V první části je pozornost věnována různým konkrétním překladatelským strategiím, problematice pragmatického aspektu překladu, exotizaci, explicitnosti a třetímu jazyku v textu - perštině. Perské lexikum, které se vyskytuje v Hosseiniho románu, je okomentováno z hlediska překladatelských postupů a podle tématu rozděleno do skupin. Druhá část diplomové práce se zabývá konkrétními případy vlastního ilustračního překladu, jeho komentářem a konfrontací s oficiálně vydaným překladem knihy. Součástí této diplomové práce je sestavený slovníček perského lexika.The aim of this diploma thesis was to analyze the translation of Khaled Hosseini´s first novel The Kite Runner. At the beginning, the thesis focuses on particular translation strategies, the pragmatic aspect of the translation, foreignization, explicitness and on the third language in translation: the Persian Language. The Persian lexis that appears in Hosseini´s novel is commented on in terms of translation strategies. It is also divided into thematic categories. Second part of the thesis is devoted to the illustrative translation that is commented on and confronted with the officially published translation of the book. In the end, a glossary of Persian terms is included in the thesis.
