Práce je zaměřena na díla britské autorky Jeanette Wintersonové. Ve všech analyzovaných románech se objevují motivy lesbických vztahů; dále je také problematizována genderová identita hrdinů, jelikož tato nezávisí nutně na jejich biologickém pohlaví. Wintersonová v dílech využívá postmoderní prvky - intertextualitu, více propojených narací, spojení faktu a fikce, reality a mýtu, aktivně také zapojuje do díla čtenáře. Dále užívá prvky pohádky a magického realizmu. Pomocí těchto prvků dekonstruuje kategorii nutné heterosexuality a genderové určenosti. Genderová svoboda postav je pojí s koncepcí "queer theory``.The work is concentrated on the works of British author Jeanette Winterson. Motives of lesbian relationships are present in all the analyzed novels. The gender identity of the characters is challenged as well, as it is not dependant on their biological sex. Winterson uses postmodern features in her works - intertextuality, merging of multiple narrations, merging of fact and fiction, reality and myth; the reader is made to be actively involved in the novel. She uses the features of a fairy tale and magic realism. With the help of the features mentioned above, she deconstructs the category of obligatory heterosexuality and gender determinacy. The gender freedom of her characters links them with the conception of queer theory.
