Diplomová práce se zabývá sociální situací a soběstačností seniorů, kteří se rozhodli pro odchod do pobytové sociální služby. V teoretické části jsou popsány změny, které stárnutí provázejí, potřeby seniorů, dále je zde popsáno, co utváří sociální situaci seniorů a jak život seniorů ovlivňuje míra jejich soběstačnosti. Je zde pojednáno o tom, jaký význam má pro seniora jeho rodina. Součástí práce je popis současného systému péče o seniory v ČR. Ve výzkumné části je popsána použitá výzkumná metoda, způsob sběru dat a samotný výzkum. V závěru práce je zodpovězena výzkumná otázka.The thesis examines the social situation and the level of autonomy of elderly people who have chosen to live in residential care facilities. The theory section describes the needs of elderly people and the changes resulting from the aging process, the aspects of senior citizens' social situations, the effect of their personal autonomy limitations upon their lives and the importance of their families. Furthermore, it includes a description of the existing system of care for senior citizens in the Czech Republic. The research section describes the research methodology, the method of data collection and the research process. The conclusion answers the research question.
