Cílem této bakalářské práce je komentovaný překlad kapitoly The Limits of abstraction: generative phonology z původního anglicky psaného díla Phonology - An Introduction to Basic Concepts od Rogera Lasse. Nezbytnou součást této práce také tvoří komentář zejména odborné povahy, který je zařazen na konec práce ve formě slovníčku termínů. Součástí práce je i slovníček osob, tedy lingvistů (převážně žijících), kteří jsou citováni v textu a na něž je často odkazováno, českému čtenáři však nemusí být známi. Úvodní část prácer tvoří ještě také kapitola věnovaná teorii (zejména odborného) překladu. Součástí je též krátký úvod do teorie generativní gramatiky, obzvláště potom generativní fonologie, jíž se obsáhleji nevěnuje prakticky žádná česká odborná literatura.The aim of this thesis is to translate the chapter "The limits of abstraction: generative phonology" in English monograph Phonology - An Introduction to Basic Concepts by Roger Lass. This work also contains a commentary which is to explain terminology. Most of these terms are listed at the end of this work in a form of a small dictionary. This dictionary also contains list of linguists presumably unknown to Czech reader. The first two chapters of the thesis are conceived as an introduction to the history of generative grammar and generative phonology, and also to the theory of translation with a special focus on technical translation and on translating terms.
