Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je objasnit důvody, proč v české společnosti pozorujeme větší zapojení žen do politického dění na komunální úrovni, zatímco na vyšších úrovních vrcholné politiky se v České republice objevují ženy v klíčových pozicích jen velmi sporadicky. V práci jsou tedy zjišťovány zásadní důvody, kvůli kterým úspěšné komunální političky dlouhodobě působí na této úrovni a neusilují o postup do vyšších pater politiky, i když k tomu mají potřebné politické zkušenosti, které načerpaly právě z participace na lokální úrovni politiky. Práce využívá metodu případové studie, která je aplikována na území okresu Šumperk. Důvody setrvání na komunální úrovni politiky byly zjišťovány prostřednictvím rozhovorů s pěti vybranými starostkami okresu Šumperk. Celá práce je členěná do čtyř kapitol, které se zabývají výchozím teoretickým konceptem, kterých autorka práce využívá, vývojem účasti žen v politice v průběhu času, konceptem bariér, které znesnadňují ženám vstup do politiky a zpracováním uskutečněných rozhovorů. Hlavních důvodů setrvání žen v lokální politice je několik. Jako zásadní můžeme označit působení individuálních a institucionálních bariér, jak je uvedeno v závěru práce. Tímto zjištěním byla potvrzena stanovená hypotéza. Tato práce se opírala o teoretický koncept deskriptivní reprezentace. Další výzkum by se mohl zabývat vztahem mezi deskriptivní a substantivní reprezentací, který je v české literatuře opomíjen.The goal of this thesis is to clarify the reasons why there is a greater involvement of women in the local politics in the Czech society, while at the higher levels of politics, the women are only rarely in the key positions. The thesis seeks to find the reasons why a successful municipal female politician chooses to work long time at this level, and does not seek to enter the higher levels of politics, even if she has the necessary political experience gained during the time of her participation in the local politics. The paper is a case study, conducted in the district Šumperk. The reasons why women remain at the local level of politics were researched through interviews with five chosen mayors of the district Šumperk. The work is divided into four chapters. This first defines the default theoretical concept, which is applied later in the thesis. The second chapter focuses on the development of women's participation in the politics over the years. The third one introduces the concept of barriers which make it difficult for women to enter politics and the last chapter summarizes the conducted interviews with the mayors. There are several reasons why women decide to remain in the local politics nd not proceed any further. The main reasons proved to be individual and institutional barriers, as stated in the conclusion. This finding confirmed the hypothesis. This thesis uses theoretical concept of descriptive representation. Further research could examine the relationship between descriptive and substantive representation, which is neglected in Czech literature.
