Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou osobnosti učitele a vztahu jejích charakteristik k prožívání smyslu života. Teoretická část podává informace o sociálním a ekonomickém postavení učitelů ve společnosti v průběhu dějin. Dále se práce věnuje přehledu profesních a osobnostních charakteristik učitele požadovaných a potřebných pro výkon tohoto povolání. V poslední teoretické kapitole předkládá nejznámější psychologické teorie smysluplnosti a uvádí přehled zdrojů a hodnot, ze kterých může člověk smysl života čerpat. Cílem praktické části je prozkoumat nakolik se charakteristiky skupiny učitelů liší od běžné populace a existuje-li jejich propojení s prožíváním smyslu života. K průzkumu těchto otázek byly použity standardizované dotazníky NEO pětifaktorový osobnostní inventář a ESK Existenciální škála.The thesis deals with the issue of teachers ´ personality and its relation to their perceived meaning of life. The theoretical part provides the information about social and economical situation of teachers throughout the history. It also includes the overview of professional and personal qualities necessary for practising the profession. The last chapter of the theoretical part is aimed at the best-known psychological theories of meaningfulness and the sources and values it is derived from. The goal of the practical part was to find out possible differences between personal qualities of teachers and common population and association of these qualities with teachers´perceived meaning of life. The NEO-PI-R inventory and ESK questionnaire were used to find out these data.
