Tato práce se zabývá buddhismem, jedním z náboženství Asie. V první části popisuje, jaký byl buddhismus ve svém zrodu. Následující části pak pojednávají o vývoji tohoto východního náboženství, přičemž se jedná nejprve o théravádový a posléze o mahájánový. Buddhismus. Každý z nich je pak popsán zvlášť ve své kapitole. V poslední části práce se uvádí jednotlivé směry a dosavadní vývoj v současném světě. Práce se tedy snaží popsat buddhismus od jeho prvopočátků až do dnešního dne. V jednotlivých kapitolách se uvádí to nejdůležitější z daného období. Jelikož se toto náboženství se postupem času vyvíjelo, snahou bylo tedy především zachytit důležité momenty v samotném vývoji a jejich důsledky pro další vývoj. Hlavním prvkem tohoto náboženství je však jeho zakladatel, kterému je věnována zvláštní pozornost v první kapitole. Najdeme tu nejen popis jeho mládí, ale i cestu hledání, probuzení, učitelské dovednosti a jeho smrti. Nejdůležitějším cílem této práce bylo zachycení stavu dnešního buddhismu, a to nejen v zemích Dálného východu, ale celého světa, a především nalezení těch prvků buddhismu, které mohou být inspirativní i pro dnešní vědeckotechnickou kulturu západního světa.The paper deals with Buddhism, one of the Asia?s religions. The first part describes the Buddhism as it was in time of its emergence. The following parts are dealing with the evolution of this eastern religion, with focus centered at first on Theravada and then on Mahayana Buddhism. Both of these branches of Buddhism is then thoroughly described in separate chapter. Final chapter focuses on the development of Buddhism in contemporary world and tries to reflect on its most significant branches. In all, the paper tries then to describe Buddhism from its infancy until nowadays. The single chapters focus on the most important topics of the respective eras. Because of the significant evolution of the religion in time, the main effort was put in describing the main points of this evolution and their relevance for further development. The founder of the Buddhism is undoubtedly its focal point, therefore the first chapter deals thoroughly with his role. It describes not only his youth, but also the search for the right path, the moment of awakening, his teaching skills and his death. The most important goal of the paper was to portray the contemporary state of Buddhism, not only in Far East region but all around the world, and last but not least to find the points of Buddhism that can inspire the science-technical culture of the Western civilization.
