Práce si klade za úkol upozornit a pojednat o zajímavém rozporu mezi životem Thomase Morea a jeho Utopií. Zabývá se otázkou, jak je možné, že Thomas More, který ve svém životě proslul nekompromisním pronásledováním jinověrcům, dokázal v Utopii nastínit dokonalý koncept náboženské tolerance. Práce se snaží najít odpověď na tuto otázku. Pro celkové pochopení problému je v první části práce shrnuta problematika raněnovověké náboženské tolerance a její rozdíly oproti dnešnímu chápání tohoto termínu. V následujících částech jsou analyzovány záležitosti týkající se Thomase Morea, které jsou pro zpracování uvedeného úkolu nezbytné.The present thesis deals with the paradox between life and writtins of Sir Thomas More. In the introductory chapter the author presents the topic to be discussed and the method applied. The aim is to find reasonable answer of initiate paradox. Part one brings a explanation of the center of a problem of religious toleration in Early Modern Age. Part two presents the treatise about Utopia and equal attention is devoted to its part in life and writting of Thomas More. Part three deals with a contrast between Thomas More and storyteller Raphael Hythlodaios. Part four is entirely devoted to More´s campaign against the influence of the ideas of Martin Luther and heresy in general. Subsequent chapters discuss the problem of religious toleration in Utopia and diverse opinions on it and final capture brings my own opinion.
