Práce si klade za cíl analyzovat americký sitcom How I Met Your Mother na základě komparace s konvenčními prvky a postupy televizního žánru sitcom. Vzhledem k nutnosti teoreticky vymezit samotný žánr sitcom a postihnout proces utváření systému jeho konvencí se systematičtěji zabýváme především jeho počátky v rozhlasovém a televizním vysílání, což dokládáme patřičnými příklady z rozhlasové a televizní produkce. S takto vymezenými atributy komparujeme námi zvolený sitcom za účelem postihnutí jak konvenčních, tak specifických prvků, jež v rámci tohoto žánru uplatňuje. Pozornost věnujeme také dvěma prostupujícím se narativním principům ? sérii a seriálu, přičemž důsledněji sledujeme příčiny jeho posunu k seriálové televizní formě.Aim of this work is to analyse the sitcom How I Met Your Mother on the basis of comparison with conventional elements and processes of the TV genre sitcom. Considering the necessity to determinate theoretically the very genre sitcom and to affect the process of forming the system of its conventions we especially deal with its origins in the radio and TV broadcast in the more systematical way. This is corroborated with the propriate examples from radio and TV production. With so determinated attributes we compare the chosen sitcom in order to affect both conventional and specifical elements which are applied within this genre. We also pay attention to two pervading and narrative principles ? series and serial and in doing so we thoroughly follow the causes of shift to TV-serial form.
