Zahrnuje období od druhé poloviny 19. století až do 70. let 20. století. Cílem práce je zmapování nejdůležitějších historických a kulturních událostí, které přispěly k celkovému přijetí západního typu oděvu japonskou společností. Zároveň je zmíněn i vliv, jaký měl kontakt s tradičním japonským odíváním na světovou módu.. -- Abstrakt: This thesis examines the topic of adoption of the Western-style clothing in Japan. The main aim is to describe the circumstances and the most significant cultural and social events connected to the adoption of Western-style clothing. It also introduces the phenomena that were created in the process of this change. Adoption of Western-style clothing in Japan stretches for about a hundred years from the beginning of the second half of the 19th century. The period is divided into three stages. Each stage is iniciated by an important event and introduces a different approach to Western-style clothing by the Japanese public. The last part of the thesis describes the influence Japanese traditional dress had on the Western art and design.
