Diplomová práce analyzuje archetypy v próze Jana Čepa a snaží se ukázat, jakým způsobem se podílejí na významu a stavbě díla. Nejprve je především na základě Jungovy teorie nevědomí vymezen pojem archetyp ve vztahu k literatuře. Následně se práce zabývá několika konkrétními archetypy jako stín, moudrý stařec či práh, což vede ke zjištění, že tyto archetypy se podílí na širším významovém i kompozičním rámci díla. Tímto rámcem, kterým je proměna a cesta k ní, se zabývá centrální část práce. Ukazuje se, že proměna je klíčová pro Čepovo existenciálně laděné vnímání světa a že se zároveň musí neustále obnovovat. To má dalekosáhlé důsledky pro kompozici i práci s časem, čemuž se věnuje závěrečná kapitola diplomové práce.The thesis analyses archetypes in fiction of Jan Čep and attempts to show how they help to constitute the meaning and structure of his work. Based primarily on Jung's theory of the unconscious, the term archetype and its relation to literature is discussed initially. The thesis goes on to analyse several specific archetypes like the shadow, the wise old man or the threshold, which leads to assertion that all of them participate in a broader frame of meaning and composition. This frame is embodied by metamorphosis and journey towards it and the central part of the study discusses these concepts. It becomes clear that metamorphosis is crucial for Čep's existential world view and that it has to renew itself over and over again. This fact has extensive consequences for composition and perception of time, which is the subject of the final chapter of the thesis.
