The Impact of the Conflict in Yemen on Women's Employment [rukopis] / Afnan Ahmed Mohammed Shamsan. -- 2023. -- tab. -- Oponent Maria Sassi. -- Ved. práce Maria Anna Leone. -- Abstrakt: This thesis examines how the conflict in Yemen up until 2013 affected women's employment. To investigate this question, the Difference-in-Difference approach was used as an identification strategy to compare women's employment in the pre-conflict and post-conflict period. To conduct the analysis two surveys were used: the Household Budget Survey (HBS), conducted by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in Yemen in 2006, to represent the pre-conflict period, and the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) for Yemen in 2013 to represent the post-conflict period. The result of this thesis demonstrates that the conflict in Yemen had a negative impact on the employment of ever-married women. The results of this study constitute the first empirical evidence from Yemen and contribute to the existing literature on the effects of conflict on labor market outcomes.. -- Abstrakt: This thesis examines how the conflict in Yemen up until 2013 affected women's employment.
