Bakalářská práce rozvíjí tvrzení Pelušky Bendlové o setkání Gabriela Marcela s básníkem Rainerem Maria Rilkem. Interpretuje dvě přednášky Gabriela Marcela, které v českém překladu vyšly pod názvem Rilke, svědek spirituálního života, v nichž se Marcel věnuje Rilkeho dílu. Práce odhaluje setkání dvou osobností v mnoha aspektech, jež se týkají lidského života - vztahu k umění, Bohu, smrti a filozofii poutnictví. První kapitola uvádí Marcelův pojem setkání do širšího kontextu jeho filozofie a nastiňuje základní body jeho myšlení. Druhá kapitola přibližuje Rilkeho život, přístup k uměleckému procesu a jeho blízký vztah k výtvarnému umění. Třetí kapitola uvádí Marcelovu interpretaci do širšího kontextu Rilkeho díla, myšlení i života. Kapitola též shrnuje ústřední témata Marcelových přednášek do ucelených tematických částí: Hledání Boha, Setkání se smrtí. Obě témata se během Rilkeho života dynamicky proměňovala a jejich vývoj je popsán zejména na základě Rilkeho stěžejních děl Knize hodinek, Elegií z Duina a Sonetů Orfeovi. Závěrečná kapitola se věnuje filozofii poutnictví - otázkám smrti, posmrtného života a otevřenému vztahu obou osobností k okultismu.This undergraduate dissertation elaborates on Peluška Bendlová's claim regarding the encounter of Gabriel Marcel with the poet and author Rainer Maria Rilke. For this purpose, two lecturers by Gabriel Marcel, published in the Czech language under the title "Rilke, witness of the spiritual life", are interpreted. As suggested by the title, Marcel dedicated these lectures to Rilke's work. Focusing on this material, the dissertation discloses an encounter of two human beings the encounter of Marcel and Rilke in its many aspects pertaining to human life, be it one's relationship to art, God, and death or the philosophy of pilgrimage. Accordingly, the first chapter contextually introduces Marcel's concept of encounter and delineates the fundamental elements of his thought. The second chapter attends to Rilke's life, his relationship to human arts and his attitude toward their creation. The third chapter presents Marcel's interpretation of Rilke within the broader context of the latter's work. The chapter also compiles Marcel's lecturers into two central themes: Seeking God (Hledání Boha) and The encounter with death (Setkání se smrtí). Both themes had undergone dynamic changes throughout Rilke's life and their genesis is described primarily based on Rilke's pivotal texts 'The Book of Hours', 'The Duino Elegies', and 'The Sonnets to Orfeus'. The final chapter is dedicated to the philosophy of pilgrimage, the questions of death, afterlife, and the open relationship of both Marcel and Rilke to occultism.
