Práce je rozdělená na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části je nastíněna problematika tlumočnických strategií a mluvního tempa. Pozornost je věnována také otázce tlumočnických služeb v kontextu Evropské unie. Praktická část práce se věnuje analýze korpusu sestaveného z projevů na plenárním zasedání Evropského parlamentu.. -- Abstrakt: This diploma thesis focuses on the interpreting strategies applied by the European Parliament's interpreters as a response to the speaker's speech rate. The diploma thesis comprises of two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part introduces the issue of interpreting strategies and speech rate. Attention is also paid to the interpreting services in the context of the European Union. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of the corpus which consists of the speeches from the European Parliament's plenary session.
