Teoretická část se věnuje stáří, názorům společnosti na staré lidi a zodpovědnosti každého jednotlivce za kvalitu života v tomto období. Seznamuje čtenáře s dobrovolnictvím, jeho historií, současností, významem a jeho úlohou v životě seniorů. V praktické části zjišťuje, v jakých oblastech a jak dobrovolnictví seniorům pomáhá. Představuje skupinu seniorů, kteří pracují pro DC ADRA ve Valašském Meziříčí. Empirickým šetřením potvrzuje hypotézy, podle kterých dobrovolnictví pomáhá seniorům naplnit potřebu seberealizace, udržet si pocit užitečnosti a lépe se vyrovnat s osamělostí. Práce upozorňuje na tuto neprávem opomíjenou aktivitu seniorů a zdůrazňuje její význam nejen pro samotné seniory, ale i pro celou společnost.. -- Abstrakt: The dissertation is dealing with the voluntaries of the seniors as a form of an active aging. The theoretical part is applying to the old age, to the view of the society of the old people and to the resposibility of everybody for the quality of the life in this period. It is informing the readers about the voluntaries, its history, the present state, the importance and its role in the life of the seniors. It is introducing the group of the seniors, working for the VC ADRA in Valašské Meziříčí. It is confirming in the research the hypothesis, that the voluntaries helps the seniors to fill the neccessity of the self-implementation, to keep the feeling of the usefulness and to cope with the loneliness. The dissertation is drawing the attention to this unfairly neglected activity of the seniors and it is emphasizing its value not only for the seniors, but also for the whole society.
