Záměrem této bakalářské práce je věnovat se problematice peacebuildingu ve Rwandě v období po konci genocidy, která proběhla na jaře roku 1994. Důraz je kladen na úlohu Mezinárodního trestního tribunálu pro Rwandu (ICTR) a lokálních rwandských soudů gacaca v rámci procesu budování míru. Práce je postavena na tezi, že činnost ICTR nelze přes odbornou kvalifikovanost a cíl přispět k usmíření a budování míru ve Rwandě, považovat za významný přínos v rámci peacebuildingového procesu v zemi. Oproti tomu rwandské soudy gacaca svým nastavením a fungováním dopomohly k budování míru více. V teoretické části je představen koncept a jednotlivé dimenze peacebuildingu, s důrazem na oblast spravedlnosti a usmíření, jež dále v práci slouží jako analytický rámec pro výsledné zhodnocení přínosu činnosti ICTR a soudů gacaca s ohledem na budování míru v postgenocidní Rwandě.The aim of the Bachelor thesis is dedicated to the peacebuilding issue in Rwanda in the period after the genocide which took place in the spring of 1994. It emphasizes the role of the International criminal tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the local Rwandan gacaca courts in the peacebuilding process. The work is based on the point of view that the ICTR activities cannot be considered as a significant benefit within the peacebuilding process, even through its professional competence and its goal to foster the reconciliation and development of peace. On the other hand the setting and the performance of the gacaca courts were bigger contributions in the peacebuilding efforts. In the theoretical part of the work, the term and dimensions of peacebuilding are introduced with a stress on the justice and reconciliation area. The dimension of justice and reconciliation further serves as an analytical framework for the final evaluation of the ICTR and gacaca courts contribution with regard to the peace-establishing in post-genocide Rwanda.
