V první části práce jsem uvedla poznatky Viléma Mathesia a Jana Firbase o aktuálním členění věty a poznatky Františka Daneše o tematických posloupnostech. Druhá část obsahuje příklady jednotlivých prostředků aktuálního členění v angličtině. Nalezené věty jsem porovnala s odpovídajícími českými protějšky. Snažila jsem se ověřit citlivost angličtiny k aktuálnímu členění.In the first part I stated Vilém Mathesius's and Jan Firbas's theories about functional sentence perspective and František Daneš's research on the types of thematic progressions. In the second part there are examples of the means of functional sentence perspective in English. I compared these sentences with their Czech equivalents. I tried to verify the susceptibility of English to functional sentence perspective.
