Cílem této diplomové práce je popsat vývoj chicanské ženské literatury od jejích počátků po současnost. Pro tento záměr byla vybrána čtyři literární díla: romány The Squatter and the Don od Maríi Ruiz de Burton, The House on Mango Street od Sandry Cisneros, Their Dogs Came with Them od Heleny Maríi Viramontes a povídka "The Paris Gown" od Estely Portillo Trambley. V úvodní části práce jsou jednotlivé autorky a jejich díla představeny a zasazeny do historického a literárního kontextu. Práce následně zkoumá vývoj dané literatury ve třech oblastech: tematický vývoj, vývoj obrazu hlavní ženské postavy a vývoj literárních prostředků.The aim of this thesis is to describe the development of Chicana literature from the beginning to the present day. For this purpose, four literary works have been selected: the novels The Squatter and the Don by María Ruiz de Burton, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, Their Dogs Came with Them by Helena María Viramontes and the short story "The Paris Gown" by Estela Portillo Trambley. In the first chapter, the writers and their works are introduced and contextualised from the historical and literary point of view. Subsequently, the work examines three areas in which the Chicana literature has developed: the subject matter, the image of the female protagonist and the literary form.
