Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na komparaci dvou typově podobných hvězd, ze kterých se ve své době staly idoly tisíců mladých lidí. Jejich podobná vizáž a typy rolí, které hrají, jsou do značné míry totožné. Divácký náhled na oba se však radikálně odlišuje. Cílem je postihnout rozdíly v postavení obou filmových hvězd u dobového diváka (změna témat, proměna společnosti, nové způsoby prezentace v médiích), vymezit, jaký typ publika a z jakého důvodu navštěvuje rebelské filmy typické pro oba herce. Postavy ztvárněné Robertem Pattinsonem mají podobné charakterové rysy a nastiňují obdobnou problematiku jako filmy z portfolia Jamese Deana. Rebel má tedy nadčasový charakter a dochází k jeho neustálému variování. Proto je také důležité vysledovat kořeny, díky kterým mohly jimi ztvárněné archetypy vyvstat a specifika tohoto žánru. Rozdíly, které vyplývají z komparace dvou podobných hereckých typů, jejich vytvářené rebelské image ve filmu a pro veřejnost, umožní postihnout proměnu samotného kultu hvězd a prezentaci na pozadí vývoje filmového průmyslu. Předmětem rozboru jsou následující filmy a jejich divácké přijetí (Rebel bez příčiny, Na východ od ráje, Obr, filmy ze ságy Stmívání, How to Be a Nezapomeň na mě).The bachelor thesis is focused on comparison of two movie stars of the same kind who became idols for thousands of young people in their times. The similarity can be seen in their visage as well as in the types of roles they play. But the viewer?s look on them radically differs. The goal of the thesis is to find out the differences in the position of these two movie stars in the view of the contemporary audience (the change of themes, transformation of society and new ways of the media presentation) and to specify what kind of audience watches the ?rebel films? which are so typical for these two movie stars and why. The characters which are rendered by Robert Pattinson have similar traits and outline the same issues like those from the James Dean?s portfolio. The rebel has a timeless character and that leads to his constant variation. Therefore it is important to trace the roots through which the rendered archetypes and the specifics of this genre could raise. The differences arising from the comparison of two similar kinds of actors, their rebellious image created in the films and for the general public, can affect change of the cult of star itself and the presentation on the background of the film industry development. The point of the analysis are the following films and their audience acceptance (Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden, Giant, Twilight Saga, How to be and Remember me).
