Práce se zabývá problematikou sebeurčení dospělých osob s mentálním postižením. Teoretická část práce obsahuje přehled modelů mentálního postižení, popisuje jednotlivá prostředí, v nichž osoby s mentálním postižením žijí, dále adolescenci a dospělost osob s mentálním postižením, sociální služby určené pro tuto cílovou skupinu a koncept sebeurčení. Praktická část popisuje kvantitativní výzkum zkoumající míru sebeurčení ve vztahu s prostředím, pohlavím a počtem obyvatel na pokoji za použití zkrácené verze ARC škály sebeurčení. Je zde i stručná kvalitativní analýza cílů osob s mentálním postižením v oblasti budoucího bydlení a zaměstnání. Práce přinesla poznatky o existenci vztahu mezi sebeurčením a prostředím, kde jedinec žije, a zároveň identifikovala osoby žijící v chráněném/podporovaném/samostatném bydlení jako jedince se statisticky významně vyšší mírou sebeurčení.The present work is concerned with the problem of self-determination of adults with mental disabilities. The theoretical part of the work encompasses an overview of models of mental disability, as well as it describes particular living environment of persons with disabilities. The work furthermore describes their adolescence and adulthood, social services provided for this target group and the concept of self-determination. The practical part of the work describes a quantitative research method assessing the level of self-determination in relation to environment, gender and the number of roommates, employing the shortened version of the ARC Self-Determination Scale. Included is also a concise qualitative analysis of the goals of persons with disabilities in terms of their desired housing and occupation. As to the outcomes of the research, it was found out that there is a relationship between self-determination and the living environment of the analysed individuals. Moreover, it was detected that the persons living in a community residential facility, supportive, and/or independent housing accommodation achieved considerably higher level of self-determination.
