Tato disertační práce se zabývá didaktickou funkcí překladu v moderním vyučování anglického jazyka s ohledem na překlad konkrétního gramatického jevu, který je strukturně odlišnýsny od svéeho české ekvivalentu. Zkoumanou gramatickou strukturu představuje přítomné příčestí ve funkci vedlejší kondenzované věty. Lingvistická část analyzuje výskyt větných typů s danou strukturou a mapuje výskyt možných překladových variant, ktere splňují nároky na gramatickou přesnost, ale zároveň zohledňují trendy modrní češtiny. Práce se dále teoreticky i prakticky zabývá úlohou překladu ve světle moderního komunikativního přístupu ve výuce anglického jazyka. Důraz je kladen na překlad jako techniku pro zvyšování jazykových kompetencí u studentů anglického jazyka a jeho funkci v původních i současných výukových metodách. V empirické části se práce snaží zjistit postoje kvalifikovaných učitelů k dané problematice, hledá spojitost mezi souvisejícími pedagogickými jevy a ověřuje dovednosti studentů SŠ překládat anglickou, strukturně odlišnou formu.The dissertation thesis deals with the methodological function of translation within modem teaching methods of the English language with respect to the translation of a specific grammatical form which is structurally different from its Czech equivalent. The examined structure is the non-finite present participle functioning as a dependent condensed clause. The linguistic part analyses the occurrence of the sentence types containing the given structures and surveys possible translation variants which meet the demands for grammatical accuracy, but also take into consideration the trends of the contemporary Czech language. Moreover, the thesis theoretically and practically focuses on the role of translation within modem communicative approach in teaching English as a foreign language. The empirical part attempts to find out the attitudes of qualified teachers to the examined issue, attempts to find some relations between possibly related pedagogical phenomena and verifies the skills of grammar school students to translate structurally different English forms.
