Tato práce se zabývá diktaturou Rafaela Leonidase Trujilla v Dominikánské republice, která se datuje do let 1930-1961. Poukazuji také na metody a důsledky jeho vlády, konkrétně na příkladu sester Mirabal, které se po své smrti staly národním symbolem Dominikánců. Literární dílo Julie Álvarez, En el tiempo de las mariposas (In the Time of the Butterflies), představuje, mezi jinými, literární zpracování jejich ?příběhu?. Je to kniha založená na skutečné události, jelikož Álvarez spolupracovala se sestrou, která přežila, Dedé Mirabal. Krátce je nastíněn život autorky, její dílo a osobní pojetí této knihy, jelikož ji považuji za přímého svědka Trujillovy diktatury.This work deals with the dictatorship of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo in the Dominican Republic, which dates to the years 1930-1961. I also mention the methods and consequences of his government, namely the Mirabal sisters example, that after his death became a national symbol of Dominicans. Literary work of Julia Alvarez, En el tiempo de las mariposas (In The Time of the Butterflies), represents, among others, literary treatment of their ?story?. It is a book based on real events, as Alvarez has worked with his sister, who survived, Dede Mirabal. Briefly outlines the life of the author, her work and personal approach to this book, because it as a direct witness Trujillovy dictatorship.
