Cílem této práce bylo stručně shrnout historii i současnou situaci čínského obyvatelstva na území Indonésie, zachytit, jakou roli sehráli čínští přistěhovalci v průběhu dějin na tomto území, a zaznamenat příčiny a podněty, které vedly ke zlomovým událostem, ke kterým mezi etnickými Číňany a původním obyvatelstvem Indonésie došlo. Druhá část práce je věnována čínskému obyvatelstvu ve městě Semarangu na ostrově Jáva. Shrnuje běţný ţivot čínské menšiny ve městě, zabývá se náboţenstvím a tradicemi čínské komunity v minulosti a dnes, nastiňuje problematiku pouţívaného jazyka a zmiňuje čínské kulturní památky, které dokazují dlouholetou přítomnost Číňanů v této oblasti. Formou dotazníků byla prošetřena situace nejmladší generace místních etnických Číňanů.The principal aim of this work was to describe Chinese minority in Indonesie, its history and the most significant moments during their being in there. I also tries to catch all of the infuences which might change situation and life style of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia. Second part describes life of Chinese minority in one certain city in Java island. It says about geografical conditions, religion, language and customs of ethnic Chinese in Semarang City. Through a quiestionnaire i tried to analyse the situation of the young generation of ethnic Chinese in Semarang, their abilities of speaking Mandarin, maintaining of Chinese tradition in their families and their relationship with Indonesian people.
