Cílem bakalářské práce je analýza postavení strany Kadima v rámci izraelského stranického systému mezi lety 2005-2009. Zvláštní důraz pak autorka klade na volby do osmnáctého Knessetu, které se konaly 10. února 2009. Významným faktorem, který ovlivnil výslednou pozici strany v rámci systému je lídr strany, kterým se stala Cipi Livni. Cílem autorky je tedy vymezení pozice strany v rámci stranického systému dané země v důsledku několika událostí, které ovlivnily předvolební kampaň a celkové volební výsledky strany Kadima.The aim of this thesis is to define the position of the Kadima party in the range of Israeli party system. The thesis analyses ideological development of the party since its foundation in 2005 till the elections on February 10, 2009, putting the emphasis on leaders of the party, the founder Ariel Sharon, his follower Ehud Olmert, and especially on contemporary leader Cipi Livni. It is Cipi Livni whose personality is important in defining the party. The author of this thesis is to assess succeses, advantages, and disadvantages associated with the leader Cipi Livni concerning election campaign. An important phenomenon influencing the final result of the party are the circumstances preceeding the election of Cipi Livni as the leader of the party and circumstances preceeding the election campaign as well. The author of this thesis assumes that as for the Israeli party system, the Kadima party represents a center party which is not very usual. Furtherly, the author of this thesis will define if the Kadima party is a center party and if there is another way how to define its position on theoretical basis. In the end of the thesis, the author delineates the party as a center party supposing there are three cleavages rooted in Israeli society. Due phenomena which are gradually incorporated into the Israeli society, such as western post-materialistic values, the decrease in identification of voters with the parties, decreasing importance of ideology in favour of personal qualities of party leaders, the author qualifies the party as a neo-centric party.
