Diplomová práce se zabývá pohledem na práva a postavení frankofonního obyvatelstva v Severní Americe, konkrétně v Kanadě a Louisianě. Autorka se nejprve zaměřuje na historický vývoj frankofonního obyvatelstva na Severoamerickém kontinentě a historii bývalých francouzských kolonií. V Kanadě a americkém státě Louisianě popíše zákony a předpisy, upravující práva na vzdělání frankofonního obyvatelstva, na jednání v jejich mateřštině, postavení francouzštiny v zaměstnání, domácnostech a ve společnosti vůbec. V závěru nechybí srovnání frankofonní menšiny v Kanadě s životem a asimilací jazykových, zvláště regionálně-jazykových, menšin ve Francii.The thesis deals with the rights and the position of francophone minorities on the Nord American continent, specifically in Canada and Louisiana. First, the author focuses on the historic evolution of the francophone population in the Nord America and of the history of the former French colonies. In Canada and Louisiana she describes the acts and rules conditioning the rights to education and use of the French language in the Canadian society, at work or at home. In conclusion, the thesis deals with the comparison of life and the position of the francophone minority in Canada with the language minorities ? speaking foreign or regional languages- in France.
