Práce se zabývá druhy modality v angličtině a v češtině a také prostředky, kterými se modalita v daných jazycích vyjadřuje. Blíže se zaměřuje na použití anglických modálních sloves v kombinaci s minulými infinitivy. Za použití projektu InterCorp pak zkoumá tato modální slovesa s minulými infinitivy nalezená v anglických textech a jejich převod do češtiny, hlavní pozornost je věnována slovesu would.The master thesis deals with the kinds of modality in English and in Czech. The means of expressing modality in these languages are studied, especially the usage of the modal auxiliaries in combination with the past infinitive. To examine the situation of modal auxiliaries with the past infinitive the project InterCorp was used. The attention was focused on the modal auxiliary would with the past infinitive and its translation to Czech.
