Diplomová práce se v teoretické části zabývá problematikou překladu dialektů a sociolektů z angličtiny do češtiny z hlediska funkční stylové ekvivalence. Shrnuje základní translatologické teze o funkční stylové ekvivalenci a postupy, jimiž lze uspokojivé ekvivalentnosti v překladu dosáhnout. Blíže se zaměřuje na strukturu černošské angličtiny a využití obecné češtiny při jejím překladu. V praktické části je pak z tohoto hlediska hodnocen překlad románu Alice Walkerové The Color Purple, Barva nachu a jsou nabízena vlastní překladatelská řešení.This thesis deals with the dialects and sociolects of English and their translation to Czech from the functional stylistic equivalence point of view. It summarizes the basic translation theories about functional stylistic equivalence and the methods that can be used to obtain an adequate translation. It focuses on the structure of African-American English and on the use of Common Czech as a means of it's translation. In the practical part the Czech translation of The Color Purple is being evaluated from the point of view of the functional stylistic equivalence, and own translations are offered.
