Tato diplomová práce pojednává o Policii České republiky jako veřejném bezpečnostním sboru s důrazem na současnou právní úpravu, organizační strukturu a činnost. Vychází ze stručného nástinu historického vývoje v oblasti policie na územi dnešní České republiky. Organizace Policie ČR je popisována s ohledem na probíhající změny zejména metodou srovnání s předchozí úpravou. Postupně se zabývá policejním prezídiem, útvary s celostátní a útvary s vymezenou územní působností. Činnost je pojata obecně podle ústanovení zákona č. 273/2008 Sb., vymezením základních povinností a oprávnění policistů,větší pozornost je věnována nově zavedeným či pozměněným institutům. Součástí práce je rovněž specifikace stávajících i v současnosti teprve navrhovaných kontrolních mechanizmů. Krátce jsou zmíněny také mezinárodní aspekty policejní činnosti.This Diploma Thesis deals with the Police of the Czech Republic as a public security force, whereas emphasis is placed on the current legal regulations, organisational structure and activity. It starts from a brief outline of the police forces historical development within the area of today's Czech Republic. The organisation of the Police of the Czech Republic is described in relation to the current changes, using mainly comparison with the former legislation. The work focuses in turns on the Police Presidium, forces with federal and limited territorial scope. The police activity is described generally pursuant to the provisions of Act No. 273/2008 Coll., the basic responsibilities and competences of the policemen are determined and attention is paid to the newly established or amended institutes. The thesis also includes a specification of the both current and presently proposed control mechanisms. The international aspects of the police activity are mentioned briefly as well.
