Cílem mé bakalářské práce byla analýza překladu první kapitoly knihy Empire in Black and Gold od Adriana Tchaikovského a překladatelského procesu s tím spojeného. Rozebíraný překlad je první verzí odesílanou do nakladatelství. První verzí proto, že jsem chtěla vysledovat vliv zadavatele na výslednou formu textu. Překládaná kniha patří do žánru fantasy a je specifická svým námětem, proto jsem před samotný překlad umístila ještě medailonek autora, jeho inspirace a popis specifik překladu knihy v tomto žánru. Pro lepší orientaci v překladu přidávám popis fikčního světa v knize. Dále se v práci zabývám jednotlivými stylistickými a lexikálními elementy obsaženými ve výchozím a cílovém textu, s přihlédnutím ke konvencím v překladech fantasy literatury. Následně se zabývám klasifikací nejčastějších chyb, opravených korektory, a jejich možným původem. Práce obsahuje několik příloh. Jmenovitě interview s autorem, mapu světa a text kapitoly po editorských i redaktorských korekturách.The aim of my bachelor thesis was to translate the first chapter of Empire in Black and Gold, a book written by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and subsequently analyse the process of the translation itself. The translated text is a first version sent to the publisher, mainly because I wanted to document the changes that will occur in the text during the process of adjusting by editors. The genre of translated book is not so common ? it is a fantasy book, it belongs to the epic fantasy subgenre to be more specific. I have therefore written an introduction about the author himself, his inspiration and the characteristics of the genre, that could be problematic when comes to translating. I have also added a description of the world described in the story, for a better understandment of the translation. The analytical part of the thesis is focused on the stylistic and lexical elements both in the source and target language, some of them are supplied with a comment regarding the conventions of the Czech translations of fantasy literature. Last analytical part consists of analysis of mistakes made by me that were revealed by the editors. Thesis has several addendums. Interview with the author of the book, the map of the world described in the story and the final version of the chapter after all the editations.
