Tématem práce je mediální obraz starých žen v časopise Vlasta. Jde o téma, které se pohybuje na rozhraní několika výzkumných oblastí. Reflektuje poznatky z oblasti genderu, stáří a mediálních studií. Skupina starých žen je v médiích, ale i v akademických kruzích často neviditelná, proto se tato práce zaměřila právě na ně. Metodou obsahové analýzy bylo zjišťováno, jaké množství článků je starým ženám v časopise Vlasta věnováno, zda je reprezentace staré ženy v tomto časopise pozitivní či negativní, v jakém kontextu se stará žena v časopise Vlasta objevuje, jak se reprezentace staré ženy v průběhu vydávání časopisu měnila a jaká je reprezentace staré ženy z hlediska typu textu. Analyzována byla textová část časopisu Vlasta v rámci vzorku čtyř náhodně vybraných ročníků (ze všech ročníků jejího vydávání, tedy od r. 1947 do r. 2009). Časopis Vlasta byl zvolen záměrně zejména proto, že tvoří ojedinělý průřez historií i z důvodu jeho konzervativního stylu, který si v rámci určitých mezí udržel dodnes. Porovnání dat z provedené obsahové analýzy s historickým a politickým kontextem přineslo možnost interpretace dat vzhledem k soudobým souvislostem.The topic of this thesis is the medial representation of the old women in the Vlasta magazine. It is a topic which borders with several fields of study. It reflects the knowledge from gender studies, aging and media studies. The old women group is often invisible not only in medias, but also in academic world, that is why this thesis concentrates on it. By the method of content analysis it was researched, how many articles are devoted to old women in Vlasta, if the representation of old woman in this magazine is positive or negative, in which contexts appears old woman in the magazine, how the representation of old women changed during the publishing and what is the representation of an old woman in terms of text type. The textual part of Vlasta magazine was analyzed within the sample of four randomly chosen volume (out of all volumes of its publishing, it means from 1947 to 2009). The Vlasta magazine was chosen on purpose, because it represents the time cross sectional area, but also because of its conservative style kept to a certain degree until today. The comparison of the data from content analysis with historical and political context enabled the possibility of data interpretation regarding to today?s context.
