Abstrakt - Cíle: Identifikace specifik života lidí nekonzumujících alkohol ve společnosti, která alkohol běžně konzumuje. Metoda: Kvalitativní metoda výzkumu spočívající na strukturovaných rozhovorech byla obohacena o metodu sémantického diferenciálu snažící se postihnout konotativní významy slov pojíc se s tematizovanou problematikou. Výsledky: Na základě důvodů abstinence byla navržena klasifikace abstinentů. Jsou popsána a interpretována specifika života abstinentů od alkoholu v českém kontextu. Závěry: Lze potvrdit reálnou existenci specifik života abstinentů. Specifika spočívají ve vnímání vlastní odlišnosti od konzumující většiny. Dále v časté konfrontaci abstinentů s otázkou po důvodech abstinence. Ve snížení doby pobytu a výskytu abstinentů na místech, kde se alkohol konzumuje. Abstinence také přináší změnu pohledu na alkohol a jeho konzumaci v české společnosti. Z těchto specifik plynou mnohé faktory, které se podepisují na osobnosti daných jedinců.Abstract - Aims: Identification life specifics of people who do not drink alcohol in a society which drink alcohol commonly. Methods: Qualitative method of research based on structured interviews is supplied by semantic-differential method which describes connotative meanings of words connected with the given question. Results: Classification of abstainers is set on the reasons for abstinence. Specifics of life of the teetotallers are described and interpreted in the Czech context. Conclusions: The existence of life specifics of the teetotallers is proved. The specifics lie in the perception of self-diversity in the majority of alcohol consumers was proved. In the frequent confrontation with the question about the reasons for abstinence too. Also in cutting-down the time of abstainers staying in places where alcohol is being drank. The abstinence also brings a change in viewing alcohol and its consummation in the Czech society. Many factors can be implied from these specifics, lot of these factors influence the personality of abstainers.
