Prostřednictvím diplomové práce jsme zpracovali téma univerzit třetího věku a jejich místa v edukaci seniorů. Kapitoly teoretické části jsou rozčleněny na oblasti týkající se osobnosti seniorů, jako představitelů jedné ze specifických skupin obyvatelstva, dále se zabýváme kvalitou života seniorů, vzděláváním seniorů. Samostatnou část pak tvoří charakteristika univerzit třetího věku. V empirické části byl zrealizován výzkum, který zjišťoval vztahy osob v postproduktivním věku k dalšímu vzdělávání. Z výzkumu se prokázalo, že osoby do 65 roků věku studující U3V projevují větší ochotu se dále vzdělávat, než osoby nad 65 roku věku studující U3V, ženy studující U3V projevují větší ochotu se dále vzdělávat, než muži studující U3V, pozitivní postoj rodinných příslušníků má kladný vliv na rozhodování seniora se dále vzdělávat, osoby s úplným SŠ vzděláním s maturitou se vzdělávají častěji na U3V, než osoby s nižším, než SŠ vzděláním s maturitou, způsoby získávání informací o možnostech dalšího vzdělávání se liší u seniorů studujících U3V a u seniorů nestudujících, senioři studující U3V mají kladnější vztah k PC, než senioři nestudující.The thesis deals with the universities of the third age and their role in the process of education of seniors. The cahpetrs of teh theoretical part are divided in teh following topics - the personality of seniors as a specific group of population, the quality of the life of seniors and the education of seniors. There is an extra section dealing with the description of the universities of the third age. In the empirical part there is the research dealing with the attitude of the individuals in the postproductive age towards further education. This research showed that the individuals who studied at the universities of the third age under the age of 65 were more open to further education than the people who were older than 65 years of age. The women who studied at the universities of the third age were more willing to carry on in the process of studying than the men. The positive attitude of family memebers is of positive impact on the decisions of teh seniors as regards further education. The individuals who completed their secondary school education take more often part in the learning at the universities of the third age, the individuals who had not reached the secondary education are less likely to attend the universities of the third age. There is a considerable difference in teh way of obtaining inforamtion about further education as regards the pensioners who attend the universities of the third age and those who do not. The seniors who study at the universities of the third age are of more positive approach towards computers tahn the pensioners who do not study.
