Předkládaná práce se soustředí na analýzu role televize v každodenním životě seniorů. Každodennost je podle našeho názoru vyznačuje svojí dvojznačností - na jednu stranu jsme do ní vrženi, na druhou stranu ji sami vytváříme. Tento charakter dvojznačnosti ovlivňuje způsoby sledování televize seniory. Televize v životech starých lidí hraje důležitou roli zejména v procesu oslabování a posilování pocitu ontologického bezpečí ? na jednu stranu v nich vytváří pocity úzkosti, na druhou jistoty. Na základě těchto tvrzení televizi považujeme za pilíř sociálního řádu a zdroje udržování statu quo. Prostřednictvím empirického výzkumu založeného na polostandardizovaných rozhovorech a následné analýze dat se snažíme objasnit širší souvislosti používání televize v každodenním životě seniorů.This work is focusing on analysing the role of television in everyday life of old people. In the everyday life culture, the individual is paradoxically both, creating the culture and being conditioned by it. This ambigous nature of it influences viewing of television by old people. Television plays an important role in process of breaking and reconstructing ontological security ? it constructs one´s ontological security by the production of anxiety on one side, and security on the other side. In this respect television should be considered as the pillar of social order and a means of maintaing the status quo. The goal of the second part of this work is to present a wider relations of using the television in everyday life of old people.
