Tato práce pojednává o Otakaru Odložilíkovi, českém historikovi žijícím ve 20. století. Jeho život byl poznamenán politickými událostmi, díky nimž nemohl působit v tehdejším Československu a byl nucen dvakrát odejít do emigrace. Poprvé díky druhé světové válce a podruhé díky nástupu komunistické strany k moci v roce 1948. V obou případech mu poskytly útočiště USA. Práce vystihuje hlavní body jeho života doplněné jeho vlastními komentáři. Dává tak částečně nahlédnout i do jeho názorů. Jako pramen k práci jsou použity jeho deníky, korespondence a články. Práce se zabývá hlavně obdobím jeho první emigrace, ke kterému jsou dostupné prameny v České republice.This work is about czech historian Otakar Odložilík, who was living in the 20th century. His life was affected by political events, hence he couldn't work in the Czechoslovakia and he was forced to emigrate twice. The first reason was the second world war and the second reason was the communist revolution in his country in 1948. In both cases the USA gave him asylum. This work is dealing with main points of his life supplemented by his own commentaries. It also gives an insight into his opinions. The sources for my work are his diaries, correspondence and articles. My work is mainly about his first emigration, because the sources to this period of his life are available in the Czech republic.
