Práce se zabývá současným sociálním a právním postavením kanadských Inuitů. Představen je jejich původ a historie osídlování severní Kanady. Důraz je kladen na demografickou, ekonomickou a sociální strukturu obyvatelstva. Analyzovány jsou nejzávažnější sociálně-patologické jevy jako sebevražednost, závislost na alkoholu, narkomanie, hazard či závislost na nikotinu. Zmíněn je také střet Inuitů s moderní civilizací včetně jeho pozitivního i negativního dopadu na společnost.The thesis deals with the situation of legal capacity and social status of Canadian Inuit. It is introduced their origin and the colonization history of northern Canada. The emphasis is put on the demographic, economic and social structure of the population. It analyzes some of the worst socio-pathological phenomenons such a suicide, alcoholism, drug abuse, gambling or nicotine addiction. There is also mention of the conflict of Inuit with modern civilization and it´s positive and negative impacts on their society.
