Práce se zabývá dynamikou vztahů v prostoru Perského zálivu. Snaží se nabídnout pohled na realitu zahraniční politiky v nestabilním regionu, v kterém se střetávají zájmy zahraničních velmocí se zájmy regionálních států a s vlivem trans-státních sítí, organizovaných na náboženském nebo etnické, základu. Klíčovou linii celé práce jsou vztahy mezi USA a Íránem. Práce tento vztah zkoumá v období 1998-2008 a zabývá se vlivem jednotlivých amerických administrativ kontinuálnost politiky v oblasti Perského zálivu a to nejenom ve vztahu k Íránu. Dále práce zkoumá, zda-li vzájemné americko-íránské vztahy ovlivňují státy GCC v jejich zahraniční politice v oblasti.This thesis analyses international relations in the Persian Gulf within the 10-year period of years 1998-2008. It aims to approach the better understanding of international relation reality in a very turbulent part of the Middle East. The thesis concerns U.S. ? Iranian relations and factors which stimulate their development and shape international relation dynamics in the Persian Gulf. The thesis studies basic approaches of Clinton I, II and Bush I, II administrations to conservation of regional balance in the Persian Gulf in a context of global and regional events. It examines key documents and discusses their impacts upon U.S. foreign policy objectives in the Middle East with a special concern on U.S. ? Iranian relations. It questions perception of state actor?s conduct in the international arena based on presumptions of attributability of actor?s conduct to regime type. Following the goal of the thesis, one chapter puts in focus several factors which are presumed to shape Iranian national interest and influence its strategy in the international arena. Furthermore, the thesis discusses U.S. ? Iranian relations and examines their impacts upon intra and inters states relations in the Persian Gulf. It aims to uphold importance of nuance which link relations of particular actors to conflicts and their influence on regional balance and position of the United States within the region.
