Tato bakalářská diplomová práce pojednává o příčinách odmítnutí Evropské ústavní smlouvy v nizozemském referendu. Zaměřuje se především na analýzu vnímání nástroje referenda v nizozemském prostředí, vývoje vztahu Nizozemska k Evropské unii (EU) a kampaně, která předcházela referendu. Zabývá se také vybranými problémy nizozemské politiky (stavem nezaměstnanosti, imigrační politikou, kritickým postojem části nizozemské politické elity vůči EU) a unijními problémy (rozpočtovou politikou, otázkou přijímání dalších členských států), které mohly mít na rozhodování nizozemských voličů vliv. Cílem této práce je určit, který ze zkoumaných faktorů byl pro výsledek referenda rozhodující. Na základě deskripce a analýzy určené problematiky práce dospívá k závěru, že hlavní roli při rozhodování voličů sehrála politická kampaň a nespokojenost Nizozemců s rozpočtovou politikou EU.The bachelor coursework applies to referendum about the European Constitutional Treaty in the Netherlands. The aim is to find the main reasons why the treaty was rejected by Dutch voters. The work concentrates on three main points of analysis. First, the perception of referendum as a tool in the Netherlands, second, development of relationship between the Netherlands and the European Union (EU), and third, campaign preceding the referendum. Moreover, it deals with specific problems of Dutch politics (level of unemployment, immigration policy, critical attitude of some Dutch political leaders towards EU) and European politics (fiscal politics, enlargements) which could have an impact on the decision made by Dutch voters. Based on analysis and description, the work reached the conclusion that crucial factor for rejection of the treaty was political campaign and dissatisfaction of the Dutch with the Union's fiscal policy.
