Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku křestních jmen. Teoretická část práce popisuje historický vývoj křestních jmen, motivaci výběru jmen v současnosti, sociolingvistické aspekty, funkce křestních jmen a jejich jazykové aspekty. Praktická část, pomocí komparace výběru křestních jmen u mladší a starší generace, analyzuje oblíbenost jmen a motivaci jejich výběru.The diploma project is focused on problems concerning first names. Theoretic part describes a historical development of first names, the present motivation of their choice, sociolinguistic aspects, their functions and their linguistic aspects. Practical part, by means of a comparison of a younger and older generation and first names chosen by respondents, analyses a popularity of the names and motivation of their choice.
