This thesis range alcoholism as a thematic phenomenon Czech movies shooted in the late of the 50´s into social and political context. Four key films (Tam na konečné, Zde jsou lvi, Dnes naposled a Velká samota) illustrate changes of definition alkoholism. This thesis also describe the role of displaying this decadent social event in the global dramaturgical plan of the Czech cinematography in the 50´s.
