Na film Nadějná mladá žena režisérky Emerald Fennell, z roku 2020 jsou rozporuplné kritické ohlasy. Někteří tvrdí, že je hlavní postava komplexní feministickou představitelkou hlavní role, jiní jsou přesvědčení, že i když se film pokouší zaměřovat na feministická témata, tato snaha se nesetkává s úspěchem a hlavní postava je vystavěna spíše jako fetišizovaný objekt mužské touhy. Zaměřila jsem se tedy na tento rozpor a konfrontovala teorie filmu s empirickými daty o ženských divačkách. Pustila jsem film divačkám a zjišťovala jejich dojmy a postřehy pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Následně jsem provedla tematickou analýzu, která mi odhalila podobnosti a rozdíly v divácké percepci. Výzkum ukazuje, že divačky mají různou úroveň pochopení feminismu ve filmu Nadějná mladá žena v závislosti na vlastních znalostech a postojích k feminismu.There have been mixed critical responses to Emerald Fennell's film Promising young woman (2020). Some argue that the lead character is a complex feminist representation of the main character, while others believe that while the film attempts to focus on feminist themes, this effort is not met with success and the lead character is constructed more as a fetishised object of male desire. So I focused on this contradiction and confronted feminist theories of film with empirical data on female viewers. I screened the film to female viewers and gathered their impressions and insights through semi-structured interviews. I then conducted a thematic analysis that revealed similarities and differences in viewer perceptions. The research showed that female viewers have different levels of understanding of feminism in Promising young woman depending on their own knowledge and positions towards feminism.
