Práce je zaměřena na profesní etiku učitele z pohledu etiky ctností konkrétně teorie čtyř kardinální ctnosti amerického teologa a etika Jamese F. Keenana. Profesní etika učitelského povolání v České republice není zakotvena v žádném závazně obecném dokumentu, tak jak je to například u lékařů. Do značné míry je to úkol systému profesní přípravy pedagogů, ale ani zde zatím nedošlo k výraznějšímu zlepšení. Celá problematika se významně dotýká prestiže učitelského povolání a profesní odpovědnosti za formování mravní stránky osobnosti žáka. Nejprve je vymezen a vysvětlen pojem etika a profesní etika učitele. Potom je pozornost věnována teorii čtyř kardinálních ctností Jamese F. Keenana. V poslední části je návrh aplikace kardinálních ctností do pedagogické praxe. Pro srovnání jsou vybrány články z Kodexu křesťanského učitele jako platného dokumentu České biskupské konference.The thesis focuses on the professional ethics of the teacher from the point of view of the ethics of virtues, namely the theory of the four cardinal virtues of the American theologian and the ethics thinker James F. Keenan. The professional ethics of the teaching profession in the Czech Republic is not enshrined in any binding general document, as it is the case for doctors, for example. To a large extent this is the task of the system of professional training of educators, but even here there has not been any significant improvement. The whole issue significantly affects the prestige of the teaching profession and the professional responsibility for shaping the moral side of the pupil. First, the concept of ethics and professional ethics of the teacher is defined and explained. Then, attention is paid to the theory of the four cardinal virtues of James F. Keenan. Finally, there is a proposal for the application of cardinal virtues to teaching practice. For comparison, articles from the Code of Christian Teacher are selected as a valid document of the Czech Bishops' Conference.
