Díla hororové fikce byla studována z mnoha úhlů pohledu. Vzhledem k vývoji žánru lze nalézt různé subžánry, včetně náboženského hororu. Autoři v oboru používají různé teorie k popisu charakteristik hororového žánru. Mezi ty nejvýznamnější patří studium monster. Nicméně existuje mezera v propojení subžánru náboženského hororu s monstry, které obsahuje. Cílem této práce je prozkoumat náboženství v souvislosti s hororem, zejména vztah mezi křesťanskou tématikou a tématy hororu. Tato práce zkoumá horor, spojuje jej s křesťanstvím a poskytuje analogie naznačující jejich úzké spojení. S pomocí teorie monster Noëla Carrolla tato práce analyzuje postavy v románu Stephena Kinga Carrie a v románu Exorcista Williama Petera Blattyho. Tato práce navrhuje, že postavy mohou být vnímány jako monstrózní a analyzuje jejich vztah k náboženství. Práce poskytuje důkazy, že v náboženském hororu musí existovat spojení mezi monstry a daným náboženstvím.The works of horror fiction have been studied from numerous perspectives. Because of the evolution of the genre, there can be found various subgenres, including religious horror. Authors in the field use different theories to describe the characteristics of the horror genre. One of the most notable ones includes the study of monsters. However, there is a gap between connecting the subgenre of religious horror with the monsters it contains. The aim of this thesis is to examine religion in connection to horror, in particular the relationship between Christian themes and the themes of horror. This thesis examines horror and connects it to Christianity, providing analogies proposing their close connection. With the help of Noël Carroll's monster theory, this thesis analyses the characters in Stephen King's novel Carrie and William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist. This thesis proposes that the characters can be viewed as monstrous and analyses their relationship with religion. The thesis provides evidence that in religious horror, there needs to be a connection between the monsters and the religion in question.
