Diplomová práce se věnuje kritické diskurzivní analýze televziního seriálu The Falcon and the Winter Soldier z hlediska multimodálního přístupu. Na konkrétním textu globálního fenoménu produkční společnosti Marvel Studios rozebírá reprezentaci Spojených států amerických prismatem teorie nacionalismu. Způsob, jakým je americká národní identita vyobrazena, je doplněn o analýzu vztahu USA k dalším reprezentovaným zemím a národnostem optikou opozičních konceptů etnocentrismu a kulturního relativismu, čímž se vytváří celistvý pohled na strategii reprezentace USA. Pro analýzu je využita metodologie CDA Normana Fairclougha, který pracuje se třemi úrovněmi rozboru - deskripcí, interpretací a explanací. Tradiční zaměření CDA na jazyk je doplněno o další významotvorné módy jako vizuál seriálu nebo narativní linie. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. První se zabývá teoretickými východisky nacionalismu, kulturního relativismu, etnocentrismu a příbuzných konceptů. Druhá část je tvořena samotnou analýzou, v rámci které vyvstalo několik fundamentálních motivů nesoucích nacionalistické zabarvení.The master's thesis is concerned with a critical discourse analysis of the TV show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier through the view of a multimodal approach. The thesis deals with the nationalism of the USA as is represented on the particular cultural text of the global phenomenon, the Marvel Studios production company. In addition to the nationalism analysis the thesis offers an ethnocentric and culturally relativistic breakdown of the show considering the relationship of the USA to the other represented countries and nationalities in order to create a compact view on the representation of the USA. Norman Fairclough's CDA methodology including the three levels of analysis (description, interpretation, and explanation) is mostly used. The traditional linguistic focus is joined with other meaningful modes such as visual aspect of the TV show or the narrative. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first chapter is concerned with the theoretical framework of nationalism, cultural relativism, ethnocentrism, and some other related concepts. The second part constitutes of the main analysis through which a number of fundamental motives emerged as being relevant to the nationalism topic.
